Gerresheimer, a provider of specialty products made of plastics and glass for the pharmaceuticals and life science industries, has expanded its pharmaceutical bottle production base at its Zaragoza plant in Spain.
A new 600m2 ISO class 8 clean room equipped with nine high performance injection and injection stretch moulding machines is added to the Spain plant. Further, the clean room has space for another six machines allowing Gerresheimer to expand the facility at a later stage to 15 moulding machine capacity.
The new expansion will enable production of high quality PET pharma bottles. In addition, the plant is also now capable of fitting different types of closure, from simple caps to tamper evident or child-safe closures on the bottles.
Among its range of bottles, the new unit is expected to manufacture PET bottles suitable for medicines and nutritional food supplements.
The Zaragoza facility was acquired by Gerresheimer in 2008. Apart from its Zaragoza plant, Gerresheimer also has a plant in Masalavés, Spain. Besides, it owns over 40 production plants in Europe, North and South America and Asia.
Some of its other products include – Insulin pens, inhalers, pre-fillable syringes, other vials, ampoules and bottles for liquid and solid pharmaceuticals. It also serves the moulds cosmetics industry packaging.
