Kenyan cement producer – Devki Group plans to construct two new cement plants in the country. The first plant will have a production capacity of 750 million tonnes of cement per annum, located in Mariakani, Kilifi County. The other factory is also expected to have a similar capacity and will be constructed in Nakuru, northwest of Nairobi.
Recently, the top cement producer from Kenya also built a cement clinker plant at Merrueshi/Mbirikani in Kajiado County, near Nairobi. The company also owns a cement grinding facility and a clinker plant in Kenya.
The two new cement factories are anticipated to lower cement prices in Kenya as it will cut down on transportation costs for delivery of material to construction sites in the country.
Kenya’s Devki Group sells cement under the popular brand name Simba cement. Backed by the country’s business tycoon Narendra Raval, the company started operations in Kenya’s cement market six years ago. They aimed to reduce the cost of housing through availability of cement at affordable prices.
