Dr. James Nixon
James is currently Chief European Economist at Oxford Economics, where he is responsible for delivering the Global Macro Service for Europe. He is also responsible for OE's commodity and oil price forecasts. He brings to Oxford Economics extensive experience having worked both in the private and public sectors. James was in charge of the international forecast at the Bank of England and was forecast coordinator at the European Central Bank, regularly presenting to the policy making committees of both institutions. He was for seven years Chief European Economist at Société Génerale and was most recently Chief Economist at TheCityUK, the trade federation that represents UK financial services. He holds a PhD in applied macro-econometric modelling from the University of London. James has a keen interest in resource constraints and the limits they imply for growth and is currently studying for a part time degree in Natural Sciences with a view to doing further work on integrated climate assessment models.
