Salahudin Yaacob

Salahudin Yaacob joined the RSPO Secretariat as its Technical Director from mid April 2011. As a Technical Director, his key responsibility is in the area of RSPO certification schemes for both the Principles &Criteria as well as the supply chain.

Prior to joining RSPO, Salahudin was managing natural resources certification programmes at the world's most established certification body, SGS, based in Kuala Lumpur. Trained as a botanist and later in environment and natural resource management, he has been involved with certification since early 1990s when he was part of the WWF working group instrumental for setting up FSC. Later, he was attached to a risk management company managing and conducting environmental risk assessments and monitoring work for various development projects in Malaysia. He is a qualified auditor under a number of certification schemes such as ISO, FSC, PEFC, MTCC and RSPO primarily covering the South East Asia region as well as India, China, Africa and Latin America.

Ms. Anita Neville

Anita joins GAR from ten years with Rainforest Alliance, an international non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation of tropical forests. Neville led the design and implementation of the first global marketing strategy for the Rainforest Alliance's certification and verification services and served as representative for Australia and the Oceania region. She is a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) auditor specialising on the social aspects of the respected forestry standards . Prior to the Rainforest Alliance, Neville was Director of Communications for E3G, a European focused environmental politics think thank for climate diplomacy and energy policy. She began her career with WWF UK , rising as Head of Advocacy where she worked to secure the HSBC Investing in Nature Partnership, work that continues to this day in the form of HSBC Water Programme

Mr. Ranveer Singh Chauhan

Ranveer Chauhan

Ranveer studied Business Management and Leadership at IIM-Ahmedabad (India), Wharton (US) and at the Said Business School at Oxford University, UK.

Ranveer has worked in the agriculture commodity sector all of his career - starting in India in the late 1980s and then joining Olam in Nigeria in 1993. He is now based in Singapore and heads Edible Oils and Rubber business at Olam International Ltd.


Ranveer works in Business advisory capacity pro-bono and is Vice Chairman of the African Business Group at SBF (Singapore Business Federation) and also on the Advisory Board of CAS (Centre for African Studies).


For his leading investment and business development work in Côte d'Ivoire during their difficult years, the country recognized Ranveer's contributions with a National Award.

Ranveer has been in Singapore since 2009, and to address the gaps in real understanding about 'living and working in Africa', Ranveer partnered with his colleague and wrote a book which they self-published in Singapore. The book is called "Amazing Africa: A corporate journey".

Toh Beng Lim

Toh Beng Lim graduated from UPM in year 1977 with Bachelor of Agricultural science. He landed his first job as Agricultural officer in the State of Sabah where he worked for 5 years.
He then joined the plantation industry in the year 1983 as Estate Manager for a small oil palm plantation owned by the Sabah State government which was taken over by the IOI Group later,

He remained working in the plantation field - working with Pontian United plantations (now under FGV) -Planting Adviser in Hap Seng plantations… Plantation Controller in IOI Group… General Manager in Wilmar International plantations Indonesia…General Manager in Duta plantations… General Manager in MKH … and currently their agronomy consultant  visiting PT MKH in Indonesia.

Hoe Lee Leng is an investment analyst, holding the title of Deputy Director, Head of Regional Plantations at RHB Research. She has been analysing the palm oil industry for more than 17 years now and has seen many CPO cycles during this period. She has a background in Accountancy but found the world of investment analysis much more exciting. She has been an investment analyst for more than 20 years, 10 of which has been spent with RHB Research. She spends her time looking at not only the palm oil industry but also analysing the listed plantation entities in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

Mr. Nathan D. Lakey

Nathan D. Lakey MBA, Founding Principal, President & Chief Executive Officer and Director, Orion Genomics, LLC (St. Louis MO); Chairman and Co-Founder of Orion Biosains (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Jakarta, Indonesia). 

Mr. Lakey received a BA in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA with Honors from Washington University St. Louis where he received the C. William Emory Executive MBA Award.  Mr. Lakey has more than 27 years of experience in genomics, holds 8 issued US patents and numerous issued and pending patents globally.  He was Director of DNA Sequencing at Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and helped form three of Millennium’s business units, Millennium Predictive Medicine, Millennium Biotherapeutics and Cereon Inc.  Before joining Millennium, Mr. Lakey held various positions with Molecular Dynamics, Ambion Inc., and Harvard Medical School’s Department of Genetics in the laboratory of next generation sequencing pioneer, George M. Church. 

Mr. Lakey was regionally recognized with the top 40 under 40 Award (2004), presented with the Missouri governor's Top Technology Award (2005), named as a top entrepreneur in St. Louis (1900-2000) by St. Louis Commerce Magazine (2007).  Orion Genomics was listed as a top 50 Company in the St. Louis region on numerous occasions, named as a Red Herring top 200 Company nationally in (2006), featured as 1 of the 8 most disruptive companies globally by the BBC (2016), and highlighted recently in Nature News for having a positive environmental impact in Southeast Asia (2017).  Mr. Lakey currently serves as Chairman of the Investment Advisory Committee, Biogenerator, Co-Founder and Chairman of Orion Biosains Sdn Bhd (Malaysia) and PT Orion Biosains (Indonesia), and serves on the boards of Orion Genomics LLC, Missouri Baptist Hospital, Apse LLC, and YourBevCo LLC.

Dr. Karel Hrncirik obtained his Ph.D. in Food Science from the University of Chemical Technology, Prague, Czech Rep. He is currently (over past 15 years) an R&D manager at Unilever, based in the Global R&D Centre for Spreads and Dressings, The Netherlands. His main areas of expertise are food quality, oil handling and processing, product shelf-life, novel functional ingredients, and food safety. For the last ten years Dr. Hrncirik has been leading Unilever research program on the 3-MCPD issue. He is a member of several professional organizations and expert panels, an author of a number of scientific papers and book chapters, and a regular speaker at scientific symposia.

Dr. Carmen Goh

Dr. Carmen Goh graduated from The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus with a doctoral degree in Plant Pathology. Her area of research was in the molecular plant-pathogen interaction between oil palm and Ganoderma spp. Currently she is the Project Manager of Eureka Synergy Sdn Bhd and Research and Development Manager of Green Plant Organic Fertilizer Sdn Bhd, mainly focusing on the formulation of effective biofertilizer that can control diseases in crops.

Dr. Mohammad Jawaid

Mohammad Jawaid, PhD is currently working as Senior Research Fellow (Associate Professor), at Biocomposite Technology Laboratory, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia and also Visiting Professor at Department of Chemical Engineering, College of Engineering, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia since June 2013. He is also Visiting Scholar to Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design at Istanbul Technical University, Turkey. He is working in composite field since 2008 and having 10 years of experience in teaching, research in the field of composites. His area of research interests includes Hybrid Reinforced/Filled Polymer Composites, Advance Materials: Graphene/Nanoclay/Fire Retardant, Lignocellulosic Reinforced/Filled Polymer Composites, Modification and Treatment of Lignocellulosic Fibres and Solid Wood, Nano Composites and Nanocellulose fibres, Polymer blends.

Presently he is supervising 15 PhD students and 5 Master students and has several Research grant at University/National/International level on polymer composites of around RM 3,000,000 (USD 700,000). So far he has published 12 books, 27 book chapters, and more than 175 International research and review articles in reputed Journal in the field of Composites and allied field.

Mr. Steven Bong Sea Poh is the pioneer in using commercial UAV for agricultural and surveying fields in Malaysia. He is Certified UAV Pilot from CASA or DCA, Australia and also qualified UAV trainer from senseFly, Switzerland. He holds a Bachelor of Science Remote Sensing from UTM and Master of Science Remote Sensing & GIS from UPM. He uses commercial UAV to do assessment on oil palm plantation estate and produces orthophoto map, palm counting map, contour map, healthiness map, thermal map. He won an award for his research entitled “Rule-Based Classification for Oil Palm Plantation: Assessment of Flood Damage and Healthiness Using Remote Sensing Data”.

Paramananthan s/o Selliah graduated in Geology (B.Sc – Hons) in 1965 from the University of Malaya.  In 1971, he completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Tropical Agronomy (University of Queensland Australia) on a Colombo Plan Scholarship.  In 1977, he completed his DSc (Soil Genesis and Classification) at the State University of Ghent, Belgium on a Belgian Government Scholarship.

His Professional Qualification includes:  (1) Fellow of the Geological Institute of Malaysia, (2)  Fellow of Soil Science Society of Malaysia, (3)  Member of Agricultural Institute of Malaysia, (4)  Fellow of Incorporated Society of Planters and (5) Fellow of Academy of Sciences Malaysia.

Dr. Paramananthan worked on soil surveys in Malaysia as well as other ASEAN countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam), Papua New Guinea, Timur Leste, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Nigeria, Gabon, Uganda and Brazil.
