Mr. Chris De Lavigne

Chris de Lavigne is based in Singapore and leads the KPMG Agriculture and Chemicals team in the Global Strategy Group, He has 20 years Consulting experience covering; Transformational Growth Strategies and Innovation, Operational Excellence, Organization Redesign, Turnaround and M&A and has worked been working in the palm sector for more than 10 years both in upstream plantation projects, as well as downstream for speciality fats, biodiesel and oleochemicals.

 

His country experience includes Asia, the Middle East and Africa, as well as Europe, and he has been in Asia for the last 15 years.

Dr. Adrian Panggabean

Dr Adrian Panggabean is the Chief Economist of PT Bank CIMB Niaga since October 2016. He began his career as lecturer at the Faculty of Economics University of Indonesia, then as professional economists at Nomura (Singapore), the Asian Development Bank (Philippines), and economic adviser in the Prime Minister’s Office of Brunei Darussalam. Upon his return to Indonesia, Dr Panggabean pursued a career in the fund management industry and became CEO in several investment firms. He holds a Bachelor degree in Economics from the University of Indonesia and Master of Social Science and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Birmingham, England, UK.

Dr. Julian Conway Mcgill

Dr Julian McGill is the Head of South East Asia at LMC International. He is in charge of research and business development for the ASEAN region. He and his team are based in Kuala Lumpur. He has a wide-ranging brief, but focus primarily on vegetable oils, oleochemicals, rubber and high protein feed markets (such as aquafeed).

His main research interest is in understanding how growers and processors manage to achieve superior margins, despite operating in a commodity market.

Dr McGill holds an M.A. (Honours) in Economics from the University of Edinburgh and completed his PhD (DPhil) at the University of Oxford.

Mr. S. Sri Saravanan (Sri)

Sri, a dual degree graduate in Law and Business Management from the Singapore Management University, is currently pursuing his Global Executive Masters of Business Administration with INSEAD. With over a decade of experience in leading global sourcing strategies for a number of MNCs including Procter & Gamble and Amcor, Sri takes pride in revamping categories into agile, end-to-end focused engines of growth and value for his organizations.

 

Currently, he leads the Global Oleochemicals Procurement Strategy for Johnson & Johnson, covering the entire value-chain of Oleochemicals from the upstream natural oils such as CPKO, CPO and CNO to the downstream derivatives such as Surfactants, Conditioners & Emollients and Emulsifiers.  As of Jun this year, he also took over ownership for Soap noodle sourcing for Johnson & Johnson.

 

He coaches a team of 4 senior procurement managers who are located across the globe, and together, they have been transforming the way that Johnson & Johnson is procuring and managing Oleochemicals.

 

Apart from his main role in Oleochemicals, Sri also serves as the Source Lead for Johnson & Johnsons Baby business and drive the workstream within Johnson & Johnson on Category Excellence and Feedstock Risk Management Excellence.

Dr. Surina Ismail

Dr. Surina Ismail currently holds the position of Group Head of Sustainability, IOI Corporation Bhd. In this capacity, she is responsible for corporate sustainability which includes aligning its sustainability strategy & policies as well as its implementation for the whole IOI Group (Plantation and Manufacturing Division - Oleo & Specialty Fats). Her field of technical experience includes the rubber & palm oil industry, the oleochemical and petrochemical industry, the coating industry specifically UV Coatings and Nanotechnology with emphasis on nanocarbon and nanomaterial. In Regulatory and Sustainability Matters, she has been involved in activities such as the Supply Chain Certification for RSPO, RSPO’s Trade & Traceability Committee as well as in the sub-working group in Oleo Derivatives, LCA as well as in REACH, GHS, etc. She is also currently a member of the Board of Governors for RSPO.

Mr. Simon Beer

A graduate of the Swiss Federal Technical University of Zurich, Mr. Simon Beer has had leadership positions in both the process and manufacturing industry. He is currently the CEO of Buss ChemTech, a Swiss process technology provider in the fields of gas-liquid reactions, phosgene production, fluorine chemistry and anode production for the primary aluminium industry.

Mr. Naveen Sharma

Naveen is Head of Global Edible Oils Business for Olam and has over 25 years of experience in Agriculture Commodities covering Trading & Risk Management, Derivatives & OTC products trading, Midstream Processing, Supply-Chain Solutions & cross-border distribution businesses.

Prior to joining Olam, Naveen has worked with Cargill in their Oilseeds, Vegetable Oils & Sugar businesses in India, Singapore & Geneva and was also Global Head for Palm business for Louis Dreyfus. He also set-up the Agriculture Commodities trading franchise for Barclays Capital in London with teams in Singapore & New York.

Naveen has a degree in Physics and Masters in Business Administration from India and currently lives in Singapore.

Mr. Paulus Tjakrawan

Paulus Tjakrawan Taningdjaja graduated as an electronic engineer from Trisakti University, and at the early career he handled the aircraft engineering and maintenance. He is managing the PT Indo Biofuels Energy which was one of the Palm Oil based Biodiesel producer pioneers in Indonesia since 2005 till 2012. At the end of the 2006, he was also one of the formation initiator of Indonesia Biofuels Producer Association and be the Secretary General,  then one of the Chairperson. Teamed up with other sectors, the Associations carried out an active role to promote Biofuel including Palm Oil based Biodiesel

 

He is also the Commissioner of PT. Multi Biofuels Indonesia and a Director of PT. Sidha Karya Maju.

Choon Wai is Senior Manager of Wilmar, Asia’s leading agribusiness group. He is also the Deputy General Manager of Wilmar associate company, Global Amines Company, a Wilmar-Clariant joint venture
 
Wilmar is ranked amongst the largest listed companies by market capitalisation on the Singapore Exchange. Founded in 1991, Wilmar has today become World’s largest processor and merchandiser of palm and lauric oils and manufacturer of palm biodiesel and oleochemicals.
 
Choon Wai has over 13 years of industry experience, currently 5 years with Wilmar and prior to Wilmar, was with Croda and Air Liquide.

I.Jerard Anbu Kumar (Jerard), is the General Manager  - Purchase at Cavinkare Private Limited, India. Dr. Jean-Guy Le Helloco

Dr Jean-Guy LE HELLOCO is Regional Product and Distribution Director for Solvay Novecare Asia Pacific. He is responsible for managing Novecare’s product portfolio to maximize EBITDA as well as the overall distribution management in AP.

 

Jean-Guy has been with the company since 1993 when he first joined Rhone Poulenc which later became Rhodia and now Solvay.

 

He has an extensive background in managing specialty businesses and product portfolios. In his 6 years as Asia Pacific Business Director for Rare Earths, he helped triple revenue during the Rare Earth supply crisis (2009-’13) while revamping the GBU’s product portfolio. Prior to that, he worked in Novecare’s Home & Personal Care market as European Business Director and was active in helping to manage the region’s emerging market outreach to Russia, Central Europe and the Middle East. With over 12 years of experience under his belt in the European surfactants business, he also held various positions in markets such as Industrial, Oil & Gas etc…

 

A chemical engineer by training, Jean-Guy earned his Ph.D. in electrochemistry from INPG (Francr) and Texas A&M University in the US and his chemical engineering undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Paris (ENSCP).

Ken Richards graduated from the University of Western Australia with Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Business Administration degrees and he is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has over 30 years of experience as a Managing Director in various listed and unlisted companies across the agriculture, finance and technology sectors.

 

Ken is fundamentally a business man with an interest in science and over the last 6 years has been CEO of Leaf Resources a small company, listed on the ASX, who have been developing their proprietary GlycellTM Process. You will hear more about that process shortly.

Leaf Resources has been nominated as one of 3 finalist in the "Breakthrough Bio-based Technology” category  at World Bio markets in 2016 in Europe and one of 5 finalists in the "Soffinova Renewable Chemistry Startups" at Bio World congress in Montreal at the end of 2015. They were also named at number 4 in the "40 hottest Small Companies in the Advanced Bioeconomy" at the ABLC conference in San Francisco in 2016.

Marco has degrees in Chemical Engineering and Masters in Business Administration from De La Salle University in Manila.  He has been with the Oleochemical Industry of the Philippines for the past 22 years.
