Dr. K Rathnam

Dr. K. Rathnam is Managing Director of Amul Dairy – Asia’s largest Dairy Co-operative located at Anand in Gujarat State of India. Amul Dairy, a pioneer in Dairy Co-operatives commenced way back in 1946 with collection of 250 litres of milk a day, presently procures 25.0 lakh litres of milk a day with an annual turnover of more than 67 billion rupees. It has processing plants at multi-locations in India and US and exports dairy products across the world. 

Dr Rathnam did his Doctorate in Foods & Nutrition from SP University, India in 1993  after completing Master of Science in Food & Nutrition in 1988 and Bachelor degree from Bharathiar University in Nutrition, Food Service Management & Dietetics. As overall head of the organization, he is a keen believer in the Strength of Farmers’ Cooperatives movement combined with Professional Excellency, he strives for overall development of its producer members as also reach best quality dairy products to the consumers across the world adopting State-Of-The-Art Technology. 

As Head of Organization, Dr Rathnam is responsible for strategic planning of Milk Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Capacity Building, Optimum utilization of resources, Business Development and continuous interaction with grass root level milk producer members and plough back maximum returns to them for improving their living conditions.
