Mr. Anthony Schiavo

Anthony Schiavo is an Analyst based in Lux Research’s Singapore office. He leads the Advanced Materials team and supports the broader materials research at Lux. Under his leadership, the Advanced Materials team conducts research on technical and market trends in areas such as future materials platforms, advanced structural materials, and coatings. His expertise also includes new technological innovations in digital manufacturing, materials informatics, and advanced design technologies. Anthony often is called upon to provide strategic advice and guidance for executives in the automotive, chemicals, and consumer goods industries.

Dr. Wolfgang Baltus

Dr. Wolfgang Baltus has completed his PhD in Natural Products Chemistry from the Technical University Carolo-Wilhelmina of Braunschweig in 1987/ He has been working as consultant for several biopolymer and biorefinery projects in South-East Asia. He is a former advisor of the National Innovation Agency (NIA), responsible for the implementation of the National Bioplastic roadmap in Thailand and has worked for BASF in business development management for the coating markets in Asia for 15 years.

He is the founder of Wobaltexpedition Consultancy, an independent consultancy service provider. He is one of the supporting experts of the German NOVA Institute for the market study on bio-based polymers/building blocks and is part of the advisory board for the NOVA conferences in this matter. He has supported the UNEP regarding their Eco-Innovation manual.

Mr. Denis Lucquin

Denis Lucquin is a Managing Partner  of Sofinnova Partners. In life sciences, he specializes in industrial biotechnology investments. He joined Sofinnova in 1991. Denis began his career in academic research. For five years, he was in charge of the technology transfer department at the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA), France’s agricultural research institute. In 1989, he joined the venture capital industry as director of investments at Innolion (Crédit Lyonnais). During his first 17 years at Sofinnova Partners, Denis carried out many investments in Health Care such as Nicox, Oxford Glycosciences, Oxford Molecular, PPL Therapeutics, Conjuchem, Exonhit, IDM, Innate Pharma, Ablynx, Cerenis, and Noxxon (all of which successfully went public) as well as Novexel (sold to Astrazeneca), and Crop Design (sold to BASF Crop Sciences). He recently specialized in Industrial Biotech and invested in BioAmber and Avantium (both went public respectively on NYSE and Euronext Amsterdam) and in Green Biologics and Agrosavfe. He acts or has acted as a board member for all these companies. Denis was also the Chairman of Sofinnova Partners between 2007 and 2017, and founded  in 1997 the French biotech entrepreneurs association, France Biotech. He is a graduate in engineering from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole du Génie Rural des Eaux et Forêts. He has a degree in Innovation Management from the Université de Paris-Dauphine.

Assoc Prof. Klanarong Sriroth

Assoc. Prof. Klanarong Sriroth has involved in sugar and starch industry for more than 35 years after his graduation “Doctor of Engineering in Sugar Technology/Biotechnology” from the Technical University of Berlin in 1986.  He was one of the key persons who established the public awareness for the significant roles of Science & Technology to strengthen the competitiveness of Thai agro industry, in particular sugar industry. Through his long accumulated experience in academic researches and collaborative works with industrial sectors, he currently serves as a technical committee in many National Boards concerning cassava, sugar and bioethanol. He is also a director and Head of Innovation and Research Development Institute in Mitr Phol Sugar Corp., Ltd.

She has gained expertise in market assessments, strategy and business development as well as due diligence and technology analyses. Prior to joining Pöyry in 2014, she worked as Product Manager at Huhtamäki Consumer Goods division. Ms Ly is based in Pöyry headquarters in Finland, but works with global projects covering also the Asian Pacific and American markets. She holds M.Sc. Degree from Aalto University (Finland) with major in packaging technology, bio-based materials and strategic management.

Mr. Kaya Kaplancali

He has over 20 years of track record in business development and entrepreneurship, 15 years of it primarily in China and Hong Kong. He has extensive international business experience working with multinational companies as well as academic research background in networked business models. He regularly participates in bioplastics industry conferences as a speaker on durable consumer product applications of bioplastics.
In 2009 Kaya founded Bioserie with three close friends, a Hong Kong based company focused on developing, manufacturing and marketing branded durable consumer goods made of bioplastics. His experience in managing design, product development and manufacturing processes and implications of these disciplines on branding has led him to study and understand the essence of working with geographically dispersed, multidisciplinary teams. By managing the R&D process, Kaya was able to develop an innovative manufacturing technology for injection molded bioplastic durable consumer products, which earned him and Bioserie worldwide industry recognition and innovation accolades in USA and Europe. He currently leads R&D, production and supply chain management efforts.

En. Amir bin Abul Hasan Ashari is the founder and Managing Director of ICBP since 2005.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the International Islamic University, Malaysia.
During his legal career, he was a legal manager of several public listed companies where he focused on mergers & acquisitions and corporate finance.
In 2015, he was a part of the European Union Bio Economy Advisory Committee based in Brussels Belgium.
Under his stewardship, ICBP has received many international accreditations such as AIB-Vincotte, USDA, SGS, REACH, US FDA and recently in July 2017, ICBP was awarded The Green Era Award & Sustainability in Rome, Italy and in the same year, ICBP received Top 50 Global Green Companies in Mumbai, India.

Mr. Bruno De Wilde

Bruno De Wilde is the Lab Manager of OWS in Ghent, Belgium for more than 20 years already.   


In this capacity, he manages biodegradation, composting and digestion tests, supervising a team of almost 40 people. Besides he is an active participant of several ISO and CEN working groups and yearly gives about 20 presentations at international conferences and company workshops.


He took his MSc in Agricultural Engineering at the State University of Ghent in 1983.

Currently Dr. Qian is leading the technical support and application development of Specialty Plastics for Asia Pacific region. Dr. Qian has 10+ years of experience in polymeric materials application development and commercialization in different industries, including packaging materials, consumer goods, infant care products and medical industry.
Johnny holds a Ph.D. degree in Polymer Science from Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Science.

Sales and Marketing for the Polydime Group, one of the largest producers of
film-based plastics and a pioneer in Biobased Plastics in Sri Lanka. He has 20
years of experience in Sales, marketing, and business management and has
presented at many local and overseas forums on promoting recycled plastics.

of Wales in the UK.

Mr. Dennis Tsai, currently Regional Director of DuPont Biomaterials business in Asia Pacific, also acts as Sorona® Global Apparel segment leader in managing DuPont Sorona® business in global apparel market. Mr. Dennis Tsai joined DuPont in 1987 and has 30 years of experience serving in multiple business across different industries in DuPont, including Chemicals, TiO2, Nylon and Lycra with various roles in sales, marketing, technical and manufacturing in his career. In recent 20 years Mr. Dennis Tsai has continued to work in fiber business by taking several leadership positions in DuPont and Invista, including a CEO role leading a Nylon 6,6 joint venture of DuPont and Far Eastern in Taiwan. Mr. Dennis Tsai holds a BS degree from National Taiwan University, and a Master of Science degree from New Jersey Institute of Technology, both in Chemical Engineering.
