Based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with over 30 years experience in petrochemicals in both commercial and financial roles, Mr. Kim formerly worked with Samsung where he was Finance and Sales manager responsible PTA plant projects, procurement for the feedstock, and sales of over 1 million tonnes of PTA globally.
His specialisation in PTA and polyester stems from broad commercial and financial experience at various positions and many in-depth analysis reports have been produced by YJ including Asian PTA Cost Model, China Textile Chain Analysis, Polyester Production Cost Comparison, India’s Future Influence in Global Textiles.

Before founding JEPLAN, he worked with Osaka University. In 2009, Takao founded JEPLAN with Iwamoto and he has been in charge of the whole operation, including technology development, factory operation, finance, and management. He developed the bio-ethanol production technology from cotton in collaboration with a chemical company. He also led a couple of research & development projects, such as ethanol production from waste gas and also the mobile phone recycling process through pyrolysis. As vice-president, Takao took command of the capital increase project and succeeded in raising $14 million in 2014. He took over the role as CEO in March 2016

Doug Woodring


Mr. Woodring is one of the leading experts on the topic of plastic pollution in our ocean and
environment. He is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Ocean Recovery Alliance, a nonprofit
organization which is focused on bringing innovative solutions, technology, collaborations
and policy together to impact positive improvements for the health of the ocean. Two of its global
programs were launched at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2010, the Global Alert platform, and
the Plastic Disclosure Project. In 2008 he co-founded Project Kaisei, which focused on the plastic
in the North Pacific Gyre, and he is a UNEP Climate Hero for his efforts. Mr. Woodring has been
on the advisory board of the XPrize, and The Economist's World Oceans Summit, and in 2011,
he co-authored the United Nations Environmental Program Yearbook chapter on the danger of
plastic in the ocean.
