Increasing number of tourists and prospective investors are visiting Myanmar since the beginning of 2012. According to statistics from the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, up to February 2012, there were a total of 739 hotels in Myanmar including 22 foreign invested hotels, four joint-venture hotels, six government hotels and 707 private-owned ones. Even so, the need to develop hotels and resorts, be it by restoring or converting old and heritage buildings into hotels or other commercial developments, is greater now than before. To review the market and hotel developments in Myanmar, hoteliers are convening at the Myanmar Real Estate Summit 2012 in Yangon on 19-20 November to share their opinion as well as take part in a panel discussion on "Resorts Market in Myanmar".
