Myanmar has several special economic zone (SEZ) projects underway including Thilawa in Yangon's Thilawa Port, Dawei in Taninthayi region and Kyaukphyu in Rakhine State. The government also plans to set up seven new SEZs in the country of which 3 will be located in Karen State, the remaining in Naypyidaw, Mandalay, Shan State and Arakan State. In response to interest in these projects, updates on industrial park development, land evaluation and legislation pertaining to SEZ will take centre-stage at Myanmar Real Estate Summit 2012 on 18-20 November. At this Yangon summit, U. Win Zaw, Director for Urban & Regional Planning Division at Dept of Human Settlement & Housing Development (DHSHD), Ministry of Construction will review "Urban Development Plan for Yangon" in which he'll cover in detail the mapping and planning of the new economic zones such as Thilawa and Thanlyin. You'll also hear from developer Shwe Taung of the Mya Sein Yaung Industry Zone in the Hlaing Tharyar Township, via Mr. Aung Zaw Naing, CEO & Managing Director of Shwe Taung Development Co., Ltd. when he addresses land issues pertaining to industrial estate development and key areas to focus on in a government proposal.
