Since opening up its economy and inviting foreign and private companies to invest in power generation to build a more stable and reliable electrical infrastructure, Myanmar has been attracting investments in infrastructure development, with the most recent being five South Korean companies working hand in hand with Japanese companies in the setting up of the Thilawa special economic zone (SEZ) in Yangon. On top of that, the World Bank has also pledged its support through a $245 million aid into the country, further establishing Myanmar as the rising star of Asia.
Lured by the newly enacted foreign investment law, many more investors worldwide are quickly moving in to clinch first-mover advantage.
