Besides Yangon, Mandalay is also undergoing extensive real-estate developments. More so after Mandalay Industry Development Authority announced the Mandalay-Myotha Industry Park project, and the construction of a port, in January this year. Some of the projects within the industrial park, which spans across the whole of Nganzun township and part of Myingyan township, include housing projects plus economic and commercial zones.

According to officials at the Myanmar Tourism Federation, the government has also allocated 236.5 hectares and 410 hectares of land in Mandalay to foreign and local investors respectively. This allocation will see the construction of about 100 and 192 hotels by foreign and local investors around the Tada-U Hotel Zone where shopping malls, bus & train stations, entertainment zone to spring up in the near future.
