Supported by OLAM and the Gabonese Minister of Agriculture, CMT brings you the 2nd Palm Oil AFRICA Summit in Libreville Gabon on the 08-09 Oct, 2013.

OLAM, which began its operations in the Gabon in 1999, by establishing timber trading business, has since invested in Gabon's sustainable Forestry Concessions and had signed the Provisional Convention for Sustainable Forest Management and Processing (CPAET) with the Government.

In a Joint Venture with the Government of the Republic of Gabon, OLAM is developing 100,000 hectares of palm plantations over two phases. During the first phase, OLAM plans to develop 50,000 hectares of industrial palm plantations. To make sure the community benefit from oil palm development, the next 30,000-hectares (of phase two) would be developed under smallholders scheme.

Last year the OLAM Group was awarded with the leadership award for sustainable development in Africa and has strong partnership with the government to build and grow Gabon into the choice location for agriculture investments. But what are the agriculture policies and framework put in place to encourage this?
