The headlines these days depict news of investors, banks, construction companies flocking to Myanmar for a slice of its booming construction sector. Meanwhile the ministries are preparing to provide a conducive environment to attract them to South East Asia's last frontier.

Riding on the enthusiasm, CMT, with the support from Myanmar's Ministry of Construction is hosting a strategic Myanmar Construction Summit in Yangon on 11-12 March 2014, to reflect on "Ensuring Cost Effective Planning & Project Management ofConstruction & Infrastructure Projects."

Just to recap: the summit will be graced by His Excellency U Kyaw Lwin, Union Minister of Construction, Myanmar, who will address the gathering with a keynote speech.

It will be followed by a must-attend session on: Urban Planning & Development Initiative for the Greater Yangon - Strategic Urban Development Plan of the Greater Yangon as set by YCDC, Yangon Region Government and Ministry of Construction. Themed "Yangon 2040, The Peaceful and Beloved Yangon; A City of Green and Gold", Mr. Suzuki Masahiko, Urban Development Advisor, YCDC; Senior Advisor, Urban Planning, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will unveil the four pillars of development vision:

  • To be an International HUB City
  • To be a Comfortable City
  • To be a Well-Managed Infrastructure City
  • To be a City of Good-Governance
