The final program agenda for Cassava World Africa - opening on 20-21 March in Lusaka, Zambia - is now launched and available for download on the CMT website.
With the event spotlighting on - transforming cassava in Africa into agro-industrial products, the agenda features sessions on key bioenergy developments and biofuel projects underway in Sub-Saharan Africa. While cassava is already used for several commercial purposes such as cassava-based beers and cassava flour across Africa, biofuel derived from cassava feedstock is gradually taking center-stage in the region as well. Recently, China New Energy announced partnering with Sunbird Bioenergy Africa to establish a cassava-based ethanol plant in Nigeria which is expected to produce 110 million liters of ethanol annually. The $24 million plant will be the first of 10 such plants coming up in the next decade.
