Myanmar's banking and finance sector is said to be the harbinger in Myanmar's growth story, especially with the government soon awarding bank licenses to foreign institutions, allowing them to commence limited wholesale banking activities in the country. Around 25 banks have already applied for licenses which include - Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. and Mizuho Bank. Further the country's micro-finance sector has also attracted foreign interest with the launch of Hana Microfinance by Korean Hana Bank. Plus, the country's insurance market seems to be promising, with only about one in 86 people in the country having an insurance policy.
Rising on such trends and untapped opportunities in the Myanmar's banking and finance sector, CMT brings you Myanmar Finance Summit to Yangon on 19-20 November, 2014.
