The cement market in Asia is witnessing a surge in activities. Indonesia predicted cement consumption to rise by 6-7% this year, while Vietnam predicted oversupply with estimated 14 million tons. Further the CIMB Investment Bank in Malaysia has indicated that volume growth in the country's cement industry is generally expected to be 4 - 5% during 2014 - Source: World Cement, 7/7/14. Elsewhere, cement manufacturer PT Semen Indonesia is planning to expand its operations into Bangladesh, following success in Vietnam and plans to invest in Myanmar later this year (Source: World Cement, 13/1/14)
