Official Opening Address by
H.E Mr. Nyan Htun Aung, Union Minister,
Ministry of Transport, Myanmar

AEC 2015 will allow free flow of goods between ASEAN countries, of which Myanmar is an integral part. The newly opened country is taking constructive measures, especially in the logistics sector - which is key to seamless trade flow.

In 2015 Myanmar Customs is expected to put in place a single-window customs procedures that will help easy import and export of commodities. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is investing US$38.98 million to assist this new venture.

Further, Myanmar presents huge opportunities for storage terminals. Earlier this year, MIC allowed Denko Trading Company to build an industrial oil storage facility on 24 acres of land at Thilawa Deep Sea port under a BOT agreement. Apex Gas and Oil, Padauk Shwe War Port and Petroleum, Thuriya Energy Deport Management, International Group of Entrepreneur, Green Asia Services, Max Myanmar and Elite Petrochemical, Myat Myittar Mon and Kaung Myanmar Aung Shipping are also operating under the BOT system.

3 key sessions at CMT's 2nd Myanmar Transport and Logistics Summit will further examine the opportunities in the country's transport and logistics sector.
