Demand, Supply, Pricing of Wood Pellets examined at Bio-Markets Asia this month.

Only a few weeks left to CMT's Bio-Markets Asia (incorporating Biomass Supply Chain & BiofuelsWorld) in Jakarta on 27-29 January, 2015 and to explore the demand/ supply and production of biomass resources such as wood pellets, palm kernel shells, etc., in Asia.

The two key markets of South Korea and Japan alone imported about 100,000 tons of pellets from British Columbia in the 2Q/14 (reported the NAWFR). Asia's vast agri-resources endowed countries like Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam are also key exporters of wood and palm pellets, palm kernel shells and other biomass products to Japan and South Korea. These countries are also exporting to EU. In fact biomass power plants are also expected to come up in Indonesia, where the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources recently said that about 15 investors have shown keen interest in developing such plants.
