Global demand for caprolactam is driven by rising nylon 6 resin and fiber consumption in the electronics industry. Before end of the year, 80,000 tonne/annum of caprolactam capacity is coming on-stream in China impacting regional players with a supply glut.

India’s Deepak Phenolics is building an integrated phenol-acetone plant with a capacity of 200 KTPA of phenol and 120 KTPA of acetone in Gujarat. The project is expected to meet India’s growing phenol and acetone demand to a large extent. Currently, India imports from South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, China, Saudi Arabia and the US.
