Innovation in Cap and Finish Design without Jeopardizing Safety and Convenience

Abstract:

BERICAP, since more than one decade perceived as the pacemaker in the development of novel cap applications that have triggered substantial savings in cap and bottle resin costs along with the reduction of the carbon footprint of packaging has now extended its global presence to Argentina.

These innovations are much less based on simple weight stripping or “light-weighting” but on new or advanced applications for HDPE screw caps that have already replaced heavy caps and finishes. Since such replacing goes along with significantly enlarged process windows for the bottler and more product safety for the consumer the process should be called “right-weighting” instead.

The presentation will show on examples of Hot Fill and Aseptic Fill applications how a holistic approach can achieve such “right-weighting” and why such activities provide benefits for the entire value chain.
