The wood pellets market is expected to exceed more than US$ 22.0 billion by 2024. The market is primarily driven by the shift to biomass energy generation in Asia and Europe. Japan's multiplying biomass power plants are expected to raise the country's wood pellet imports to over 5 million tonnes in 2023. At the same time Netherlands is starting more co-firing in 2019 and 2020 - and the country is expected to need 2.5 million tonnes of wood pellets.
Africa has a huge potential to produce and sell wood pellets and wood chips to European and Asian utilities.
