Dear Executive,

The end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010 has been an exciting period for the European PET sector. According to recent ICIS Pricing reports:

  • PET Prices rose €40/tonne in November 2009, a surprising change in direction for the 'winding-down' period.
  • Prices continued to rise, and in December 2009, prices peaked at €1,000/tonne in Western Europe. Eastern Europe had similarly high prices. Domestic supplies were gaining favour over imports.
  • Firming trends for feedstocks and PET continued into January and February 2010 and prices climbed €80/tonne on average.
  • European PET prices have risen again by €20-30/tonne in March 2010, driven by slightly higher feedstock costs and well balanced supply and demand

Will this trend continue throughout 2010? How will additional capacities in the
Middle East change the dynamics? Will customers switch to alternatives like R-PET?

David Swift, a Senior Consultant at PCI Packaging, will provide specific clarification on the above questions, during his speech "Evolution of the EU PET industry, Raw material trends with new Middle East capacities & the Global Outlook", at the 11th CEEPET & Balkans Markets conference meeting in Istanbul on 7-8 June 2010. This presentation, plus other discussions on key issues spanning the entire PET value chain and insights into 'unknowns' in the complex European markets, including imports, raw materials market trends and growing interest in alternatives like R-PET are just some of the reasons why you should plan to attend the 11th CEEPET & Balkans Markets meet.
