"Identifying bright spots in global PVC markets!"

Dear [name],

Greetings from the Centre for Management Technology!

We are pleased to announce the 5th Global Chlor-vinyl Markets is set on 10-11 June 2010 in Istanbul, Turkey!

With the recent improvement of global chlor-vinyl prices, will the prices continue to strengthen and recover to the prices like the ‘good old days’? It is projected that the gloomy days of global construction industry, which is the principal driver for PVC, are over! Where are the emerging hot spots for global PVC markets?

In 2009, US polyvinyl chloride exports reached 2,1mln tons, up 56% from 1,37mln tones in 2008. US producers wrestled with weak domestic demand, stemming largely from floundering construction segments and ongoing stalled credit conditions in the wider economy. Thus, PVC producers were actively exporting to regions in need of PVC pipe and vinyl construction materials.

Hong Kong and India led all export destinations going to a total of 180,8 thousand tons in 2009. Demand growth in China is expected to recover by 2011 and reach 12,0mln tons by 2013.  Source: http://chemguide.asia/

"(the global PVC market is reflecting)....global upward trend up until the second half of January, when some increases of €10-30/ton started to pass in the spot market. Now, there is market talk about further €30-50/ton increases for February while some sellers have started to apply additional increases for extra January allocations amidst the firming atmosphere. ....The upstream feedstock costs are prompting the upward trend as the ethylene contract settled €70/ton higher and spot VCM has also been on the rise since early January in Europe. Apart from costs, the global bullish trend is still full steam ahead, continuing to exert pressure on the region. Plus, sellers expect demand to perform better next month.” Source: http://news.alibaba.com
