Overview of the Global PVC Trade Outlook by Sumitomo Corporation at the
17th Asia Petrochemical Summit in Singapore

Is August 2010 PVC trends reflective for the next Qtr PVC market?

“The producer is confident that their new offer levels will find acceptance on the buyers’ side.
The good demand they are seeing from India is the main reason for their price hikes, a company source stated. Meanwhile, the producer also pointed to widespread electricity cuts inside
China stemming from the Chinese government’s efforts to meet their emission reduction targets
for plants performing in polluting and energy-intensive industries. As a part of these efforts, the government is also likely to introduce further increases in electricity costs. All of these developments are expected to result in limited supplies inside the country, particularly for acetylene based PVC”...”In Southeast Asian markets, price hikes are also surfacing, although these increases
are not as large as the ones seen in India”
