The global flexible plastic packaging industry has experienced rapid growth as a result of rising demand for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical products around the world, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The growing e-commerce sector is also driving demand for flexible packaging demand, which is less expensive and requires fewer raw materials compared to rigid packaging.
However, standard films are difficult to recycle, and multi-layer packaging is even more difficult. Could mono-material packaging be the solution to this problem? Mono-materials eliminate the need for material separation and risks of contaminating the recycling stream, making recyclability easier to achieve. How about renewable & compostable materials?
