thyssenkrupp launches Additive Manufacturing TechCenter Hub in Singapore

Posted on : 30 Sep, 2019

thyssenkrupp has inaugurated an Additive Manufacturing TechCenter Hub in Singapore. This is the first time that the German conglomerate has stepped outside Germany to build such a centre – that is expected to serve as a regional hub in ASEAN for its existing Mülheim TechCenter Hub in Germany.
Supported by Singapore’s Economic Development Board (EDB), the new tech facility will focus on additive manufacturing solutions in metal and plastic technologies for end users in marine and offshore, automotive, cement, chemical, mining and other heavy industries.
Additive manufacturing is anticipated to generate about US$100 billion of incremental value by 2025, impacting ASEAN's projected real GDP by 1.5 to 2 per cent, according to a paper by thyssenkrupp. In addition, additive manufacturing technology can create 3 to 4 million jobs in ASEAN by 2030, and reduce the region's imports by approximately US$30 billion to US$50 billion.
Abhinav Singhal, Chief Strategy Officer, APAC, thyssenkrupp presents on ‘Additive Manufacturing: From an Idea to Shop floor’ at CMT’s Manufacturing Automation Asia, on 20-21 February, 2020 in Singapore.
