Posted on : 25 Nov, 2019

Indonesia’s state-owned electricity provider, Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has signed an MoU with ride-hailing firms Grab and Gojek as well as taxi operator - Blue Bird, Chinese automaker BYD, Indonesian public bus operator Transjakarta, and Indonesian automaker PT Mobil Anak Bangsa to develop electric vehicle industry in the country.

The companies intend to build an electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia, particularly a network of electronic charging stations for EVs.

Grab plans to invest US$2 billion to develop electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia, while Gojek has partnered with Indonesian auto distributor Astra International to test the implementation of electric motorbikes through the GoRide service since last June.

Grab and PLN will conduct R&D of business models for market study and e-mobility development mainly for mini scooter vehicles, electric bikes, and electric cars.
