Beverages manufacturer – Coca-Cola is planning to make a major shift to recycled PET in Sweden. The company is all set to shift to plastic bottles made from 100% recycled materials – from the first quarter of 2020.
Sweden is the first country where Coca-Cola will shift all its plastics bottles manufacturing to use 100% recycled materials and this includes all PET packaging made at its bottling plant in Jordbro.
Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite as well as Bonaqua, comprising 40 different variants – are the brands that will use 100% recycled plastics material.
Coca-Cola’s deposit and return system, Returpack, has been instrumental in enabling the company to make this huge transition.
To reduce plastic waste from bottles, The Coca-Cola Company, PepsiCo and Keurig Dr Pepper have also partnered under a new US initiative under the American Beverage Association.
