Anellotech Inc., a green innovation and technology company, has formed an alliance with IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) and its subsidiary Axens - an international provider of advanced technologies, catalysts, adsorbents and services. The three companies announced that through the alliance they will commercialise a new technology that is capable of producing low cost bio-based benzene, toluene and paraxylene using Anellotech's process of Catalytic Fast Pyrolysis (CFP) of non-food biomass.
The new technology can address large-scale units and produce purified aromatics streams that are suitable for modern derivative production processes. It will help encourage competitive production of bio-aromatics from renewable resources with lower energy consumption and lower CO2 emissions as compared to petroleum based counterparts.
The three companies plan to achieve process development and commercialization of the CFP technology in the shortest possible time by combining research and development with commercial scale-up knowledge and resources.
The new technology is expected to be ready for industrial implementation in 2019.
Axens will take up the responsibility to market and license the technology globally. It will also provide basic engineering design and start-up services. Anellotech, Axens and IFPEN will conduct on-going research and development for continual process improvement and to support licensing efforts.

In order to meet the requirements of the growing PET market, Jus de Fruits d'Alsace (JFA), a France-based fruit and vegetable juice producer, is starting a PET bottling line. JFA has invested €15m ($17.9m) in the PET line that will be located at its Sarre-Union production facility.
Expected to be operational in 2015, the plant will help increase JFA's production capacity to 80 million plastic bottles per annum at a rate of 24,000 units per hour. This will also help JFA to increase its output by approximately 20%.
The new PET line will open up the market for JFA that has been selling its fruit and vegetable juice, nectars and drinks in glass bottles and cardboard briks.
The French juicer maker has a partnership with two companies - one being LSDH group - a specialist in packaging liquid food products (refrigerated or aseptic) in carton packs, plastic bottles and glass bottles and the other L'ABEILLE company that develops and packages drinks without alcohol, particularly CSDs like colas, sodas, tonics, fruit juice drinks and energy drinks in PET bottles.

England-based packaging giant RPC Group plc announced that it will acquire PET Power BV, based in Etten-Leur, the Netherlands - marking the coming together of Europe's two major packaging players.
The new acquisition marks another milestone in RPC's investment and growth in the PET sector.
Established in 1995, PET blow molding specialist PET Power manufactures plastics packaging for pharmaceutical, cosmetic and foodstuff sectors.
RPC reported its adjusted operating profit for the third quarter to be "significantly ahead" as compared to 2014, driven by organic growth and acquisitions.
RPC that has 55 operations in 19 countries, including U.S. plants in Morgantown, Pa., and Winchester, last year, bought Promens Group AS for $497 million, a major acquisition that combines two rigid packaging companies with international footprints.

Beverage giant Cocoa-Cola Enterprises (CCE) has begun injection molding preforms for PET bottles at its facility in Grigny, France, investing 16 million euros ($21.7 million).
The plant will produce preforms as well as blow mold for PET bottles. The in-house preform production will help the cola giant optimize costs, reduce transport volumes while also controlling finished products.
The new capacity will also use recycled PET content - the 1.5 liter PET bottle preforms will be manufactured using as much as 50% recycled PET. CCE plans to procure the rPET pellets from Infineo, a recycling JV between CCE and rigid packaging group APPE - based at APPE's facility near Beaune, France.
CCE and APPE have already made a joint investment worth 8.7 million euro ($11.8 million) at the Beaune facility in 2013, increasing its capacity by 70%.
