Cameron is the CEO and Co-Founder of Pyrochar, a company that uses a patented CSIRO-developed technology to produce metallurgic grade, net zero biochars and biocarbon to help metal producers, in particular steel makers, reduce emissions.

Originally from Perth with a background in 5+ coal & iron ore mine sites. Cameron has started and operated several companies in the sectors of renewable energy, SAAS, & Investments. Cameron moved to Melbourne over 15 years ago, setting up one of the first renewable energy broking platforms which he ran as founder & CEO for 7 years before being acquired in a trade purchase. During that time the company won Start-up of the Year & Cameron was awarded finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year. Cameron spent several involved in the Venture Capital sector in Australia. In particular, addressing climate challenges and Venture building solutions for Climate & infrastructure companies.

Cameron is a firm believer that not only is climate the single biggest challenge facing our world today, but that the biggest business opportunities of this generation will be the emerging green energy & decarbonisation solutions.

At the Japan Renewable Energy Foundation, Nishida leads the Climate group that conducts research and activities related to climate change, and makes policy proposals for decarbonizing Japan. Her recent focus has been on policy studies on the decarbonization of the heavy industries, including the steel industry.

Sebastian is the CEO & Founder of Meranti Steel Pte. Ltd. 

Meranti Steel is a Singapore based company active in the steel industry in South-East Asia. Its first joint venture is JFE MERANTI, a business for painting and coating of flat steel with a focus on building & construction markets. Sebastian has led JFE MERANTI as founding CEO, and now serves on JFE MERANTI’s Board of Directors. Under the Meranti Green Steel brand, Meranti Steel has recently announced the launch of a green steel business with a DRI, EAF, and hot strip mill in Thailand. The steel plant in Thailand will be integrated with an offsite renewable energy project including for hydrogen, enabling the production of carbon neutral steel both for the Thailand domestic and export markets.

Sebastian has more than 20 years of experience in executive, operational, strategy, finance, and legal roles. He has previously worked across the globe with an international steel company, a top four strategy consulting firm, multilateral banks, and an international law firm. Sebastian has a particular passion for the steel industry in emerging countries. Sebastian holds a doctor in law from Ruprecht-Karls University in Heidelberg, Germany, and an MBA from INSEAD in Singapore/France.

Brenda is a Technical Manager for the SBTi, responsible for developing emissions reduction pathways for the steel sector. Prior to joining the SBTi, Brenda spent 5 years in Zijin Mining Group (a large ferrous and non-ferrous metal mining and processing conglomerate) in China where she led and built up a team to focus on the sustainability and environmental issues on the operation site level. She has gained extensive experience across ferrous, as well as base and precious metals. She also has diverse research experience in academia at Imperial College London dealing with different environmental projects for the coal, power, water, and mining sectors across Europe and China.

Brenda holds a PhD in researching metallurgical coke reaction in the blast furnace, a master’s degree in Environmental Policy and Regulation from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. She is currently based in London.

Gilberto Cardoso is an accomplished professional with a strong background in the metals and mining sector, currently serving as the Founder & CEO of Tarraco Commodities and the Co-Founder & Investment Portfolio Manager at I-View Technologies.

With over 20 years of experience in senior management roles, Gilberto possesses a unique blend of business, technical, and finance expertise, complemented by his passion for nurturing talent and fostering growth. Throughout his career, Gilberto has demonstrated exceptional leadership and delivered powerful business results in sales & marketing, commercial and digital transformation, as well as strategic decision-making.

Notably, his role as the Marketing & Sales Director of iron ore and pellets at ArcelorMittal Mining in London showcased his ability to drive market research and analysis, resulting in a 23% reduction in BHP China's steel production peak forecast and saving a significant US$10 billion capex within a span of three years. Gilberto achieved this through comprehensive knowledge projects within the construction and manufacturing sectors, including extensive trips to China.

Gilberto's achievements extend to developing a highly successful marketing strategy for Kumba/Anglo American Iron Ore products in the Indian market. By leveraging his deep understanding of the market's growth potential, he orchestrated a remarkable 10x increase in sales over a 12-month period, capturing a market value of US$100 million.

Gilberto holds an MBA from IESE Business School in Spain, an M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, and a B.Sc. in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro & Instituto Militar de Engenharia (IME).

Rob is the Head of Project Investments at Pollination Group, leading Pollination’s project development platform. For 25 years, Rob has been personally and professionally passionate about advocating for and delivering climate change abatement and clean energy policy, regulation, project investments, businesses and industries. His professional career includes roles as Director Energy at Fortescue Metals Group responsible for the company’s energy and green hydrogen businesses, Chair of the Clean Energy Investor Group, Senior Vice President Clean Power and Vice President Capital for SNC-Lavalin in Asia Pacific, and for 18 years until July 2014, helped position Pacific Hydro as Australia’s most successful and dynamic international clean energy utility, with 50% of that time as CEO. During his time at Pacific Hydro, Rob led the formation of the Clean Energy Council and was its third Chair. Rob holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and has completed an MBA and Master of Applied Finance at Melbourne and Macquarie Universities.

Azlan is the managing director for Green Steel of WA. He has a background in engineering and project development with almost 25 years of experience in study, project, program and operations management both locally and internationally. His experience spans mining and metals, chemicals and energy. He has a record of successfully delivering projects and studies from early phase development through to feasibility studies, detailed design, construction and commissioning, often under difficult and ambiguous conditions.

More recently, Azlan and team of like-minded entrepreneurs and technical experts have come together, partnering with Danieli Group to create Green Steel of WA, a company whose objective is to create a sustainable steelmaking industry in Western Australia.

David is a metallurgist who has over 35 years of experience in the iron ore and steel industry in a variety of technology, logistical, and technical roles.

Before joining MRIWA as Portfolio Manager, David was providing advice on green steelmaking technologies including the use of hydrogen in steelmaking, Transport, and Handling of HBI and DRI. His previous roles include Regional Manager Iron Ore for Rio Tinto Commercial Singapore and Head of Global Sales and Trading, Anglo American Singapore.

Gaku Ito is an executive officer in charge of domestic sales for Tokyo Steel Manufacturing Co., Ltd. , the biggest Japanese electric-arc-furnace-steel producer which makes both of flats and beams. Tokyo Steel has the top market-share of H beams and the first company to produce hot rolled coils from scraps in Japan. The production has increased from 2.2 million to 3.4 million tons for 3 years even though Japanese BF’ production has decreased a lot. And also Tokyo steel’s pricing of steel scraps is regarded as an indicator of the world steel market.

Gaku had been responsible for export sales at Tokyo headquarters since he entered the company in 1994. Gaku has abundant experience especially in HRC trade with various areas such as North America, Europe, China and other Asian countries. Now Gaku promote EAF steel as a green steel to eco-friendly customers as the executive branch manager of Osaka. Gaku is also a member of Green EV steel team which is a special task force for development of green steel for automotive industry.

Dr. Changlong Wang is a research fellow at Monash University, specializing in energy system modelling. He was instrumental in the development of the Hydrogen and Green Steel Economic Fairways Mapper, a joint initiative between Geoscience Australia and Monash University, to support Australia’s National Hydrogen Strategy. This ground-breaking work led to his team being awarded the prestigious 2023 Australian Museum Eureka Prize for Innovative Research in Sustainability.

Changlong also holds the position of Climate Future Fellow at the University of Melbourne. As a dedicated contributor, Dr Wang serves as one of two Australian representatives in the International Energy Agency's Hydrogen Implement Agreement, Task 41, which focuses on the "Analysis and Modelling of Hydrogen Technologies.”
