Joined Mitsui O.S.K.Lines, Ltd. in 2005 and spent most of the career with traditional shipping sector including tanker and RORO
vessel business. Now he heads the Carbon Removal team in Carbon Solution Development Unit which was formed April this year
(2024), and is in charge of CDR procurement, project investment related with CDR, and carbon credit trading. 

Alcom is a Singapore based  company with a global foot print. It focuses on developing waste agri Biomass based Carbon removals projects – (Biochar) Globally.

At the helm of Alcom is Prateek Tiwari who brings over 23 years of global work experience in Carbon markets and Biofuels. He had previously worked for ED&F Man in London and in the Philippines, where he set up and managed a joint venture with Shell Philippines for Biofuels and low carbon fuels distribution. He then worked  for Bunge (A NYSE company) in UK and Singapore, Vitol (Singapore) and Trafigura (Singapore).

Alcom focusses on developing carbon removal projects – CDR from agri biomass waste through its unique combined heat and power technology(CHPB).

Prateek has a Master’s Degree in Applied Economics and Specialist Master’s MSc Energy, Trade & Finance from Bayes Business School(Formerly Cass Business School), London.

Hanna leads Carbo Culture's global climate policy advocacy and activities in the Voluntary Carbon Market. Based out of Brussels and originally Finnish, she has worked on a wide range of topics in this space, with a focus on foresight, strategy and carbon removal policy.

Her prior experience includes working in strategy and policy in Finland at the Prime Minister Sanna Marin's Office. She regularly contributes to policy discussions within the EU and is the Chair for the High Level Climate Policy Working Group at the Negative Emissions Platform.

Sylvia Low is the Director of Business Development for 1PointFive Asia. Oxy Low Carbon Ventures created 1PointFive with the aim of becoming a leader in developing Direct Air Capture facilities worldwide. Sylvia is responsible for developing business opportunities within Asia and Middle East with Carbon Engineering’s DAC technology. Sylvia has more than 20 years of experience in the Oil industry with experience in risk management, market analysis and trading.

Kikuko has 17 years of experience working on development of decarbonization projects through utilization of carbon credits and climate finance. Her recent experience includes advising on CDR and CCUS business development globally in addition to her current projects of CCS guideline development under Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) and co-authoring of “Handbook for CCS Carbon Credits” published in March 2023 by Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security.  She is also a member of the Direct Air Capture (DAC) Study Group, a business group originally established under Council on Competitiveness-Nippon since 2020.  Before joining Mitsubishi Research Institute in 2020, she worked as a senior consultant in Environmental Strategy Division of Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities, one of the pioneers that contributed to the creation of carbon market under Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). 

Jiro is the Strategist for ACT Group in Japan. After a stint in ACT’s hub for APAC in Singapore, he opened the Tokyo office in May 2024.

In this role, he is responsible to engage with a variety of stakeholders and develop decarbonization strategies for corporates through renewable energy and carbon markets including transition to a sustainable path.  He has worked with governments and multilateral organizations in the development of mitigation projects, and he is currently using this experience to create international climate-related projects, involving different types of technologies, such as CDR.

Jiro has more than 15 years of experience in the areas of climate change and sustainability, working for both, the public and private sector.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and has a master’s degree in development from Hiroshima University. He also obtained a certification in climate and renewable energy finance from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.

Moriyama is the CEO of Carbon Xtract Corporation, a developer of direct air capture technology and solutions based on separation membranes. Before joining Carbon Xtract, he spent 15 years at Sojitz Corporation, one of the major Japanese trading and investment houses. There, he was responsible for sales and investment management in its metal resources business division, and for new business development related to nanomaterials and climate tech solutions. In 2023, Sojitz and Kyushu University, which has advanced R&D in direct air capture technology that captures and condenses CO2 simply by passing air through a membrane system, jointly established Carbon Xtract. At that time, he was appointed as CEO.

Erik Rylander has +20 years’ experience from the energy industry. In recent years with focus on circular economy business development. Today Erik is Commercial Director of Stockholm Exergi’s CDR program with the short-term objective to establish a business model and commercial framework for permanent removals incl. securing the revenues that will allow Exergi to invest in a BECCS plant capturing 800.000 tons biogenic CO2 p.a. starting 2028.

Alvin Lee is Regional Head for APAC at Puro.earth, the world’s leading crediting platform for engineered carbon removal. He is responsible for leading the company’s regional engagement with developers of negative emissions technology projects which are aligned to methodologies within Puro Standard, as well as engaging with corporations which are active in voluntary carbon markets and stakeholders including financial institutions, exchanges, and regulators.

Prior to joining Puro.earth, Mr. Lee served as Head of Southeast Asia Coverage at MSCI, and at IHS Markit, now part of S&P Global, where he worked with governments and exchanges on their ESG disclosure regimes and carbon credit registries. He started his career in JPMorgan’s Risk Management Advisory team and is the author of the CorporateMetrics Technical Document.
Mr. Lee received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Engineering from Stanford University. He is now based in Singapore with Puro.earth, a partner company of Nasdaq, and is a member of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs.

He joined Sumitomo Corporation in 1999 and has long been involved in new business development and corporate services in the logistics field, including serving as General Manager of the London Logistics Department from 2013 to 2019. From 2019 to 2021, he was assigned to the Corporate Planning Department at the head office and was in charge of launching the decarbonization business. Since January 2023, he has served as the team leader of the CCUS team, and is currently working on the deployment of CCS in the Americas market and CDR globally.

Graduating from Chuo University with BA in Economics, Hiroaki Sugimori started off his career working for an investment management company. He joined ANA in 1998 and has over 25 years of experience in the airline industry. In the past 5 years, he has been engaged in various projects pertaining to the control and reduction of GHG emissions within the ANA group with a particularly strong focus on introducing sustainable aviation fuels into the Japanese market.
He and his team have worked very closely with SAF producers in the US to inspect fuel quality at each step of the manufacturing process and other areas critical to usage, including transportation logistics and fuel blending for loading onto aircraft. This successful flight was a major step toward full-scale sustainable aviation fuel use for ANA. With this experience, his team was able to establish a procurement supply chain from Europe to Japan together with a leading European SAF producer. He also played a key role in launching the “SAF Flight Initiative Program” for ANA’s corporate customers.

Patrick Buergi is a sustainability entrepreneur and expert with 22 of experience in carbon markets, climate policy, corporate sustainability and impact investing. He is a co-founder of both the myclimate Foundation in 2002 and South Pole in 2006. 

In mid 2022, Patrick relocated to Tokyo to lead the establishment of South Pole’s presence in Japan. In addition, Patrick also acts as a Senior Innovation Advisor within South Pole working across a portfolio of innovation and R&D initiatives, including Net Zero strategies, carbon removals (CDR), regenerative agriculture, plastic stewardship and digital growth opportunities, for example.

Kohki has been working in the decarbonization sector since 2022, focusing on business development for tech CDR at Mitsubishi Corporation. His current focus is on Mineralization, Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW), and Ocean CDR, which utilize natural reactions. Also he is developing the green concrete market in Japan, creating new ERW projects, and supporting Nextgen CDR Facility in purchasing ERW credits.

Stefano Cappello holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and has been the operational manager of the Limenet project since 2020 (while working at Leonardo), studying the dissolution of CO2 and Ca(OH)2 into calcium carbonates, along with his uncle Giovanni. He previously gained experience at Leonardo Aircraft, working in the quality department for the final assembly of the M346 aircraft. In March 2023, he left his position to launch his innovative start-up, Limenet, with the goal of fighting climate change by developing a technology inspired by the natural carbon cycle. This technology accelerates carbon storage in the oceans while simultaneously reducing acidification. A year after the founding of Limenet, Stefano Cappello was named among Forbes Italy's 100 Under 30 for 2024.

Mia has extensive experience in market strategy and is the Chief Strategy Officer at TCHAR. TCHAR is the first company in Taiwan to produce biochar according to the EBC international standard and has established the Taiwan Carbon Removal Industry Center in the Central Taiwan Science Park. Mia also leads efforts to build a biochar carbon removal ecosystem in Taiwan, collaborating with industry, government, and academia on the development of biochar industrial materials and biochar soil applications as natural carbon sinks. She has a long-term focus on brand sustainability and is skilled in assisting stakeholders and value chains in creating innovative green business models.

Ying Ying has over 15 years of experience in the energy sector. Her focus in Standard Chartered covers key industrial decarbonisation solutions including CCUS and hydrogen. She also plays an active role in developing carbon finance options to support the growth of high integrity carbon removal activities. 

Prior to her time in the bank, Ying Ying worked with Mitsubishi Corporation on LNG value chain investment. She was also a core team member of NextGen CDR Facility, a platform that aims to scale up carbon removal technologies and catalyze the market for high-quality carbon removals.

Ying Ying completed a course in Climate Change Management & Finance at Imperial College in 2021, and she holds an MSc in Metals and Energy Finance as well as a B.Eng in Civil Engineering. Ying Ying draws track record from MENA, ASEAN and Greater China with local experience in Singapore, London and Beijing.

Dr. Julio Friedmann is Chief Scientist at Carbon Direct. He works directly with clients, the Science team, and the leadership of Carbon Direct to solve major technical challenges around carbon management and CO2 removal.

Dr. Friedmann recently served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Fossil Energy at the Department of Energy where he was responsible for DOE’s R&D program in advanced fossil energy systems, carbon capture, and storage (CCS), CO2 utilization, and clean coal deployment. More recently, he was a Senior Research Scholar at the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia. He has held positions at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, including Chief Energy Technologist.

Dr. Friedmann is one of the most widely known and authoritative experts in the U.S. on carbon removal (CO2 drawdown from the air and oceans), CO2 conversion and use (carbon-to-value), hydrogen, industrial decarbonization, and carbon capture and sequestration.

Stefan works on nature based Solutions at Verra, exploring opportunities to scale up regenerative agriculture within Verra’s programs. He previously supported development of Verra’s LandScale initiative.

Prior to joining Verra, Stefan worked at One Acre Fund promoting agricultural development among East Africa’s smallholders; at Cornell University researching the greenhouse gas benefits of large-scale sustainable land management projects in Ethiopia; at the International Biochar Initiative, an NGO promoting the use of biochar for soil carbon sequestration and agricultural enhancement; and at Blue Moon Fund, a private grantmaking foundation supporting environmental and social sustainability initiatives.

Stefan earned his MS in Environmental Sciences and BS in Biology, both from Cornell University. He conducted his master’s thesis research in Mato Grosso, Brazil, which piqued is interest in the nexus of globalization, rural development, food production and environmental conservation.

As Director, Energy and Industrial Innovation, Ian leads Verra’s innovation strategy related to the industrial and energy sectors. His focus lies in accelerating emission reduction opportunities related to Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS), methane management, and accelerating the clean energy transition.

Ian previously worked at the Alberta Energy Regulator. There, he helped develop a number of methane emission reduction regulations, helped develop an online reporting platform, served on numerous committees for emission reductions and quantification of emission sources. Prior to this, Ian was a Director at Cap-Op Energy, a sustainability consulting company specializing in emission reductions in the energy industry. He led offset development and quantification projects related to carbon capture and storage, enhanced oil recovery, biofuel development, renewable energy, and methane destruction.

Ian is based in Calgary, Canada, and completed mechanical engineering at the University of Calgary and a Master of Science degree in Management and Engineering of Environment and Energy from Ecole Des Mines de Nantes in France.

Diego holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance from the University of Miami. With over 13 years of experience in the Bolivian forestry sector, he previously served as the President of the Bolivian Forestry Chamber from 2018 to 2022. Under his leadership, Exomad Green has become a global leader in biochar production and carbon dioxide removal (CDR).

Most recently, Patricia was Senior Client Engagement Lead at the Global CCS Institute, where she supported companies and governments looking to deploy carbon capture solutions and achieve net-zero goals. Based in Washington, DC, Patricia is a seasoned marketing and business development professional with more than 20 years of experience in financial services, insurance, and NGO sectors. She received an MBA from Darden Business School and a Master of Natural Resources degree from Virginia Tech’s Center for Leadership in Global Sustainability.

Adrian is the Chief Executive Officer at CarbonCapture Inc., a leader in direct air capture. He has spent over 25 years developing and commercializing products in the cleantech industry. From 2013 to 2018, he was the CEO of Carbon Engineering, where he successfully developed the company into a recognized global leader in CO2 direct air capture, piloting industrial scale systems in under two years. In addition, Adrian has spent 15+ years commercializing industrial hydrogen, fuel cell, and pump technologies, serving as CEO of Rotoliptic Technologies, CTO of Plug Power, and CTO of Cellex Power Products. He holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Victoria, BC Canada with specialization in Energy Systems, Cryogenics, and LNG.

Yushi Horita is the account manager at Mitsubishi Corp's Environment Energy Group and NextGen CDR AG.  His responsibilities in this role include developing and investment in Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) projects, engaging with off-takers of CDR credits in the Asia Pacific region, and procurement of CDR credits from biomass-based projects (Biochar, BiCRS).

Prior to this, Yushi was in charge of sales & marketing, and business management of fuel cell-related components at a chemical company.

Jeremy is an international energy executive with a successful track record of acquiring and leading businesses in emerging markets.
 
Danube CCS Ventures is developing Europe’s first full chain CCS operation located in Central Hungary. It will collect more than 500 000 tonnes of biogenic CO2 per year from the yeast fermentation and anaerobic digestion processes of Pannonia Bio, one of Europe’s largest biorefineries. The collected CO2 will be transported approximately 10 kilometres via pipeline and injected into permanent geological storage in a saline aquifer of the Pannonian Basin. The project will generate EU-certified carbon removal credits for the voluntary carbon markets. 
 
Prior to founding EMOV, Jeremy was the CEO of Nobel Upstream, a London based independent oil and gas company. Under his leadership, Nobel Upstream acquired and developed a portfolio of upstream energy assets in the US Permian Basin, the UK North Sea and the Caspian region. Jeremy also spent 13 years at BP where he held management roles in Upstream Technology Ventures, Investor Relations, Exploration, Air BP and BP’s Russia business. During this time, he served on the boards of BP joint ventures in Spain, Georgia, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Russia and Romania.  A graduate of the universities of Indiana and Stanford, Jeremy is highly skilled at aligning stakeholder objectives, building high-performance teams and creating effective partnerships.

Natalie Khtikian is a commercialization and sales leader with experience spanning software, advertising, and hard-tech. As Climeworks’ first employee in North America she was responsible for developing the commercialization strategy for the voluntary carbon market in North America.

Prior to pivoting to climate tech, Natalie was part of two teams that were acquired by Google, Wildfire Interactive and Waze. There, she worked with Fortune 50 clients and opened new markets and verticals.  Natalie also was VP of Sales for Yondr, a hardware team focused on removing cellphone distraction from shows, events, and spaces.   

Natalie holds a BA from UC Berkeley in Literature with a minor in Ballet, a Post Degree Diploma in Fisheries and Aquaculture from Vancouver Island University, and a MSc in Geography from the University of Victoria. Her research was focused on marine microbiology and oyster genetics.

Tom Enger is Head of Strategy for Alcom Carbon Markets, an integrated biochar technology and project developer, based in Singapore. Tom was previously Chief Product Officer for global carbon exchange Climate Impact X (CIX), and has 25 years of expertise in carbon markets, commodities and risk management. Tom has an MA from Oxford University and an MBA from the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Doug Rae is the Vice President of Asia Pacific and Latin America for 1PointFive, a Carbon Capture, Utilization and Sequestration (CCUS) company working to help curb global temperature rise through the deployment of decarbonization solutions, including Carbon Engineering's Direct Air Capture solution alongside geologic sequestration hubs. Doug’s role focuses on creating partnerships with plant developers, investors, and off-takers around the world.

Prior to 1PointFive, Doug led the international Business Development efforts for Carbon Engineering in a number of global markets for 5 years. He brings more than 25 years of international business development experience to the team, having previously served as VP, Business Development for MDA, a leading Canadian technology firm. At MDA, Doug held a variety of executive positions covering general management, business development, and strategy, and led the capture of a wide variety of large-scale projects and new business creation activities.
