She is also focusing on the development and implementation of a long-term strategy for Verra’s REDD+ program that meets the high-integrity needs of the market.

 

Naomi brings a rich expertise in land-based carbon crediting frameworks, including Verra’s REDD+ and Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU) programs, as well as its Jurisdictional and Nested REDD+ (JNR) framework. Previously, she has worked with major global conservation foundations and carbon project developers. She has also held various leadership positions at Verra in the past, including Chief Program Officer and Chief Market Development Officer.

Bhagyesh is currently working as chief coordinator for South Pole, world's leading climate action company, in raising capital for its nature-based carbon projects focused on afforestation, reforestation and forest conservation in Latam, Africa and Asia.

 

Bhagyesh specialises in working on deals concerning social and climate change impact especially in the forestry, agri and resources sectors. He has over 30 years’ experience in the fields of business capital raisings, corporate finance, & corporate and debt restructuring. This experience has been gained in various sectors mainly focusing on mining, oil and gas, agri and food supply as well as consumer and financial services and increasingly working on climate and social impact deals.

 

During his 30+ years in Asia (Indonesia and Singapore), Bhagyesh has worked with state owned enterprises, private family-owned businesses and publicly listed companies. In this role, Bhagyesh has succeeded in developing a strong network that encompasses public (SWFs and DFIs) and private sector investors including family offices, VCs, PE and hedge funds as well as the private corporate sector across countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines and China. Besides South East Asia, Bhagyesh has worked on deals across the globe including Canada, Latam, Africa & Central Asia.

 

Bhagyesh’s specialty is in finding target investment opportunities in the mining, agri/forestry, & food as well as social and climate impact sectors and subsequently advising and helping these companies source additional capital to further develop their business models. Bhagyesh has also been involved in advising both, private and public sector companies in restructuring and professionalizing their internal operations so as to attract third party capital be it private equity or public markets.

Heng Dean was previously a director with investment firm Temasek, managing strategic relationships in South East Asia and supporting Temasek’s investments in the region. He also worked on sustainability and climate issues, including helping to lead the set up of GenZero, a S$5 billion investment platform wholly-owned by Temasek that focuses on carbon markets and decarbonization.

Heng Dean was also a Senior Advisor on Carbon Markets and Sustainability with Indonesian listed company PT Triputra Agro Persada, and is currently a member of the advisory board with Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara, which is the Indonesian affiliate of The Nature Conservancy.  

Heng Dean started his career with the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was a First Secretary at the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta . He has a B.Sc. in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and an MBA from INSEAD

Martin has 23 years of professional experience, including 18 years of impact-oriented investment in Asia. Martin has led more than 50 equity and debt investments of a total value of around $10 billion in the agribusiness and infrastructure sectors.

 

Martin joined ADB in 2009 as an Investment Specialist in the Private Sector Infrastructure Finance Division 1. Martin was promoted to Senior Investment Specialist in 2013 and Principal Investment Specialist in 2015. In the same year, Martin led the creation of the Agribusiness Investment Team to provide dedicated focus and expertise to agribusiness investing at ADB. As of 2024, Martin is leading a team of 15 bankers, analysts, and consultants who deliver 5 to 8 loans and equity investments amounting to $100 million to $200 million every year, as well as design between 2 and 6 new technical assistance programs for smallholder farmers every year. Martin has led $1.2 billion of commitments across 40 direct agribusiness financings to companies involved in agricultural inputs, animal feed, livestock, aquaculture, horticulture, agroforestry, commodity trading, food and beverage processing, logistics, and retail distribution. These companies have positively impacted around 8 million smallholder farmers in 20 developing countries of Asia and the Pacific.

 

Prior to joining ADB, Martin was an investment banker with Macquarie’s infrastructure team in Singapore. Martin started his career as a McKinsey consultant in Paris. He holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (Palmer Scholar), and master’s degrees from Essec and Sciences Po.

Kennemer Eco issued the first ever voluntary carbon credits in the Philippines for Nature-Based Solutions as part of its MinTrees Agroforestry program.
 
Florian, together with the executive team led by CEO Simon Bakker, will spearhead the expansion of high-quality climate programs focused on Southeast Asia’s rural and indigenous communities bringing carbon financing solutions to restore vulnerable eco-systems and increase sustainable livelihoods.
 
Florian is recognized as a leader in the climate solutions space, with more than 14 years of dedicated experience in developing projects “from concept to credits” in four continents and under various carbon certification schemes such the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the Climate, Community & Biodiversity Standard (CCB), and the Australian Carbon Farming Initiative. Florian is a standing member of the technical advisory committee of the Plan Vivo carbon standard.

She helps manage NbS projects in peatland and blue carbon ecosystems in China, New Zealand, and Indonesia and is leading the development and publication of a regional academic paper on policy challenges to blue-carbon project implementation. She is also responsible for facilitating strategy development and creating a monitoring and evaluation plan for TNC’s Asia Pacific NbS team.
 
Prior to joining TNC, Yiwei served as the Executive Director of the San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory for over six years, where she led efforts in protecting and conserving birds in the Pacific Flyway migratory hotspot as well as managing restoration projects that balanced wetland restoration with supporting the needs of migratory birds and human access. Yiwei is a trained conservation ecologist with Biology and Psychology degrees from Cornell University as well as a PhD in Environmental Studies from the University of California Santa Cruz. Her dissertation focused on learning how human development impacts mountain lions and their relationships with smaller carnivores and prey species.

She has worked as a marine biologist on several projects encompassing community-based marine management, mangrove forest health assessments, and has a wide experience in mangrove restoration.  She is currently managing the Mangoro Market Meri Program, which aims at empowering women’s engagement in sustainable mangrove management through evidence based scientific approaches.

 

Her mangrove research work has highlighted the important environmental factors that predict the success of restored mangrove sites, and setting best practice for successful rehabilitation projects in Papua New Guinea, elevating the importance of mangrove conservation and mangrove forests as a nature-based solution to mitigating the effects of climate change. She has also contributed to the publication of the first community-based mangrove planting handbook for PNG.
She currently leads TNC’s blue carbon work in PNG and is working closely with the PNG Climate Change and Development Authority and the MacBLUE project to establish a roadmap for a national blue carbon policy and blue carbon ecosystems inventory.

Dr. Riza Suarga is the first Chairman of the Carbon Team formed by the Association of Indonesian Forest Concessionaires. He also led the Standardization and Certification Permanent Committee of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as the Sustainable Consumption and Production initiative. Later, he was appointed Vice Chairman of the Eastern Indonesia Economic Council. In collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, he established the Ecolabel Desk. Dr. Riza Suarga is also the Chairman of the Indonesia Carbon Trade Association and a member of the Ministry’s Board of Experts for Technical Committee on Environmental Friendly Technology Verification and the Special Committee for Public Facility Services Standard.  Dr. Riza Suarga holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a double major in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio University. He completed his postgraduate studies in Management at Trisakti University and earned a PhD in Resource Management and Anthropology from the University of Indonesia. Additionally, he participated in an advanced Digital Disruption course at Judge Business School, University of Cambridge.

With a career spanning 30 years, Sai has extensive experience in designing, developing, and implementing carbon offset projects under multiple voluntary carbon standards. Sai leads the decarbonization workstream at Olam Agri, focusing on delivering Nature Based Solutions(NbS) projects. He evaluates and advises on the design and technical implementation of sustainability projects to deliver climate benefits.

Prior to joining Olam Agri, Sai was the project director for India's first CDM A/R large-scale project that delivered carbon revenues to farmers in 2012 and 2022. Sai also provided counsel to UNEP, UNDP on carbon projects that delivered multiple benefits especially to smallholder farmers. Sai led and completed the carbon monitoring and evaluation of sequestration potential under the Sustainable land and forest management in the Greater Caucasus landscape in Azerbaijan. He also coordinated the operationalisation of 10204 - GEF project on transforming agricultural landscapes and strengthening local economies with a target to reach 1.5 million smallholder farmers. Sai implemented the first agroforestry project under Acorn framework in India with onboarding of more 700 ha covering more than 1000 smallholder farmers. 

Sai authored a chapter on ‘Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and the Voluntary Carbon Markets’ in the book ‘Governing Carbon Markets with Distributed Ledger Technology’ published by Cambridge University Press.”

He has spent a decade in carbon markets and international development, bringing together public and private actors to protect tropical forests and support sustainable development.

In his current role, he works with a global array project developers and financiers to engage with corporate buyers and bring their credits to market. In 2022 Bryan was co-author– with Conservation International, the Wildlife Conservation Society, and Natural Climate Solutions Alliance – on a white paper on innovative forest conservation approaches.

Before CIX, Bryan was instrumental in launching the LEAF Coalition, the world’s largest public-private initiative to support protect protection. At COP26 LEAF announced it had raised 1 billion dollars from governments and companies including the US, UK, Norway, Amazon, and Blackrock.

Bryan holds a master’s degree in development economics from Yale University where his research focused on the intersection of international development and climate change.
